History

Dick Lavy Trucking is a proven force in the trucking industry

In high school, Dick Lavy became interested in trucking. He began working part time for a trucking company, this deepened his aspiration to operate his own trucking business.

In 1978, Dick Lavy borrowed $10,000 from his grandfather, with a promise that he would repay the money within two years. He purchased a 10-year-old Mack truck with over a million miles and began Dick Lavy Trucking out of his home.

Dick Lavy began delivering hay to Florida, and by 1980 his business took off. In 1984, Dick Lavy purchased his first new truck, and by 1994 the business had outgrown his home.

Our headquarters are located in Bradford, Ohio on 12 acres to accommodate future growth.

The Dick Lavy Trucking complex boasts an office building, fuel island, and 5-bay shop.

Dick Lavy Trucking has expanded to a fleet of over 200 Freightliner & Volvo Tractors, and 500 trailers.

At Dick Lavy Trucking, throughout our history; we have understood the importance of investing in our local community.

Dick Lavy Trucking makes it a priority to support the Darke county area, through youth and community involvement.

We display our Annie Oakley trailer at events throughout the area, to educate others about the great history, and opportunities available.

Dick Lavy Trucking has been recognized by the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce in 2000 with the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In addition, our commitment to safety has earned several awards from Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, as well as being a SmartWay partner.

Dick Lavy has had great success, due to his strong work ethic and commitment to his customers and employees.

This success is based on the principle of mutual respect and open communication, Dick has an open-door policy with both employees and customers alike.

Dick Lavy began as a driver and understands the challenges drivers face today. Throughout the history of Dick Lavy Trucking; as Founder and President, Dick Lavy has remained intricately involved, to ensure the business he envisioned in the beginning remains the same today. In keeping our core values, Dick Lavy Trucking continues to thrive by being “Committed to Excellence” in every aspect of the business.
